Q. What does The Severn Centre do with my money?
The Severn Centre is a community focused, 'not-for-profit' organisation. The money we make from memberships and the bookings of our sports facilities and meeting and conference rooms is ploughed back into the centre, meaning there are no shareholders and the money goes towards the running of the centre and the facilities we offer to you. So when you're doing your bit in the gym, we're doing our bit for you.
Q. What are your opening hours?
A .We're open throughout weekdays and into the evenings, as well as weekends.
The Gerry Hitchens Fitness Suite is open during the following times:
|Monday – Thursdays||9am – 9pm|
|Fridays||9am – 7pm|
|Weekends||9am - 4pm|

Q. Can anyone use the gym?
As long as they have been through our induction process, yes. This is for the health and safety of all gym users.
Q. Do I need an induction?
We always recommend that our gym users take advantage of an induction. For our members who are new to the gym environment, you'll be shown how to use the equipment safely, and you'll get a programme from one of our qualified fitness instructors tailored to your health and fitness goals. If you're a regular gym user, we ask you to use the induction process to familiarise yourself with the equipment and run through your goals with your fitness instructor, who can then work on a new programme for you if necessary.
Q. Do you offer any discounts on memberships?
A. If you are registered disabled, receive means tested benefits or are under 16 or over 60, we offer discounted rates. Please visit the Prices page to see costs. Likewise if you work for a local company and a number of you wish to join, we may be able to offer a corporate discount. Please contact us for more information.
Q. Do I have to sign a contract when I join?
A. Unlike many leisure providers, we don't believe in tying you in to a lengthy contract. We understand that your circumstances could change at any time, so you're free to end your membership at any time. If you know you may not be using the facilities for a fixed time but would like to return, we can also freeze your membership; we simply don't take your scheduled payments for the time you'll be absent. This means you don't have to go through the paperwork when you rejoin, and you won't have to pay another enrolment fee.
Q. Do I have to take out a membership to use the gym or pool, or to attend group fitness classes?
A. You don't have to. We offer pay-as-you-go rates, however if you're planning to use the centre twice a week or more, it WILL save you money if you take out a Severn Centre Membership.
